BJR's Strategic Restructuring: A Look at Toyota Campaign Preparations
The Albury-based racing squad, BJR, is gearing up for an exciting season ahead of their Toyota campaign. With a focus on strategic restructuring, the team is poised to make a significant impact. The lineup includes André Heimgartner, Macauley Jones, and the newly recruited Cam Hill, each behind the wheel of a Supra.
One of the key moves involves the highly regarded engineer Phil Keed, who has been reassigned from his previous role with Bryce Fullwood in the #14 entry. This season, Keed will be working with Heimgartner's #8 car, bringing his wealth of experience to a new challenge. It's worth noting that Tony Woodward, Heimgartner's former engineer, has left BJR after a decade of service, joining the Blanchard Racing Team as an engineering manager and engineer for James Golding.
Meanwhile, Jason Bonney, who has been a data engineer, is stepping up to take Keed's place on the #14 car, now driven by Cam Hill. This internal promotion showcases BJR's commitment to nurturing talent within the team. Additionally, Randall Chua has been promoted from data to race engineer on Macauley Jones' machine, swapping roles with Paul Scalzo. Scalzo remains the head of engineering for the three cars, while Julian Stannard, previously in charge of the SCT car, now holds a performance engineer role.
Team owner Brad Jones emphasized the importance of this restructuring, highlighting the team's strengths and the opportunities it presents. He believes in empowering his team members, and both Jason and Randall have proven their capabilities and dedication. Jones expressed his excitement about the team's potential, especially with the upcoming Toyota project.
BJR is currently in high gear, preparing its three Toyotas for the new season, as they join forces with the homologation team Walkinshaw TWG. This marks a significant year for the team, and Jones acknowledges the pressure, but also the team's ability to rise to the occasion. The Toyota V8 Supercars engine, unveiled by a UK firm, adds to the anticipation surrounding BJR's performance in the upcoming season.
