The Phillies kicked off their annual Winter Tour with a special baseball clinic for young athletes in the team’s Nike RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner-Cities) program. Pitcher Tanner Banks, infielder Otto Kemp, and manager Rob Thomson were back in town to give major league tips to the youngsters, providing instruction in hitting, pitching, and fielding. Phillies alumni Domonic Brown, Milt Thompson, and Dickie Noles, along with the team’s Youth Baseball & Softball Development team, also took part in the lessons.
After the clinic, the kids were treated to a Q&A discussion with Banks, Kemp, and Thomson. The event was the first of this year’s Phillies Winter Tour, featuring various community and charitable events, taking place just one month before pitchers and catchers report for spring training in Clearwater, Florida. This tour is a great opportunity for the team to give back to the community and inspire young athletes.
